First Footing program offers people experiencing homelessness a safe place to stay. Individuals undergo an interview process and if accepted, have 24 hour staff support. 

The program model is built to come alongside adults on their journey out of homelessness and into a safe, stable home with mental and physical health care, employability skills training, budgeting education, and housing navigation. 

First Footing program offers: 

  • Physical and behavioral healthcare
  • Meals and basic needs
  • ID recovery
  • Addiction recovery
  • Employment assistance 
  • Transportation
  • Case management

First Footing serves primarily longtime residents of New Braunfels however, each individual is taken case by case.

Rio provides flexible, convenient, and affordable rides seven days a week. All rides must be within the New Braunfels Rio Service Area.

Rio operates as a shared van ride, similar to Uber Pool, which can be booked on a smartphone app or by dialing the phone number.

Half of the Rio vehicles are fully accessible so that riders of all abilities can use the service for medical appointments, running errands, or visiting family and friends around the city of New Braunfels.

$4 per ride, $2 per ride for senior citizens, veterans, university students, and those with disabilities.

Asking for help can be difficult, but everyone needs help sometimes. Counseling can be of benefit if you are depressed or anxious; if you are experiencing grief, trauma, or abuse; or if you are simply struggling with everyday life. Counseling can be a difficult process but also a deeply rewarding one. River City Advocacy’s counseling program serves New Braunfels, Comal County, and the surrounding areas.

We offer individual, couples, and family counseling by appointment.

Ages 14+.

Fees for counseling are set based on income and family size, ensuring that working families and others in need in our community have the opportunity to afford the care they need.

All payments are due at the time of service.

Hill Country MHDD Centers’ Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) are trained professionals who respond to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and need immediate support. MCOT is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week to provide on-site services within the community to individuals or families.

MCOT provides a combination of crisis services for both children and adults including assessment, case management, crisis follow-up and support necessary for the individual to remain in the community. MCOT is committed to developing strong relationships in the community.

Our trauma informed staff are dedicated to assisting individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The crisis hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1-877-466-0660.
