Relationship Therapy

Most commonly referred to as “couples counseling” or “marriage counseling,” we choose to recognize the variety of romantic-emotional relationships that exist.

“Relationship therapy” is inclusive of couples:

  • ex-partners
  • co-parents
  • polyamorous relationships
  • other ways two or more people may connect

Most commonly, partners come into therapy wanting to improve communication. Counseling can help you to identify your communication styles and emotional patterns and to explore the personal and relationship histories that impact your behavior.

Relationship therapy can focus on preparing for your future such as:

  • premarital counseling
  • new ways of relating to each other
  • navigating the same issues repeatedly

Family therapy is counseling that focuses on the relationship dynamics between two or more members of a family unit.

Family therapy can help you:

  • resolve conflict
  • explore patterns
  • improve communication
  • set healthy boundaries and expectations
